About the Project

Funded under the Interreg VI-B NEXT Black Sea Basin Programme

"DARE-EU – Disaster Assistance and Response in Moldova, Bulgaria and Turkey" is a project funded under the Interreg VI-B NEXT Black Sea Basin Programme, with a total value of 2.333.646,21 EUR (10% being partner co-financing), aimed at developing an efficient disaster response and prevention system in vulnerable regions of Moldova, Bulgaria and Turkey.

The project, carried out under the Interreg Next Black Sea Program, will implement innovative measures to protect the population and reduce risks in the face of climate change and extreme weather events.

Cantemir District Council

The Cantemir District Council will purchase the following emergency equipment:

1 fire truck
1 ATV (quad bike)
1 4×4 vehicle with a tow hook
1 tracked vehicle (UTV 8×8)
1 rescue and intervention boat (aluminum)
1 backhoe loader
1 snow blower

The Cantemir District Council is also responsible for creating and managing a web-based coordination and communication platform for the 5 partners throughout the project.

Nisporeni District Council

Will acquire 1 fire truck and will create a fire and disaster notification system covering the entire district.

Dalgopol Municipality

The municipality of Dalgopol, Bulgaria, will carry out dredging operations on the Kamchia River and its three tributaries, and will purchase a range of emergency response equipment:

Backhoe loader with specialized attachments
Hydraulic station with 980/A4869 slurry pump - 2640 l/min
Mulcher for vegetation removal
Tiller
High-clearance truck for transporting equipment
Pickup truck
Specialized clothing for volunteer firefighting (15 sets)
Flood notification system

Edirne Municipality

The Municipality of Edirne, Turkey, will purchase:

7-person boat for rescue and emergency response
1 emergency container
2 generators
1 4x4 pickup truck
Cold-weather tent (1 unit)
Sleeping bags (30 units)
Radios (25 units)
Life jackets (25 units)
Hard hats (50 units)

Union of Bulgarian Black Sea Local Authorities (UBBSLA)

UBBSLA is responsible for providing expertise and consultation within the project, as well as for implementing a multilingual communication platform.

Through this project, the partners are taking a crucial step toward modernizing response capabilities and increasing safety for the district's residents. The equipment and tools developed under the project will enable a faster, more efficient, and better-coordinated response to emergency situations.

The prior to project survey of public opinion regarding the project was completed on schedule!

Approximately 900 residents of the Black Sea Basin region participated in a survey designed to assess the risks of natural disasters in the region, as well as residents’ perceptions of disasters and measures to mitigate them.
